Senator Owen H. Johnson Learns How to Steer Clear of Bullies at Forest Avenue Elementary School in West Babylon
BABYLON, NY: Senator Owen H. Johnson of the 4th Senate District recently observed a Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) Steer Clear of Bullies presentation made to a 4th grade inclusion class at Forest Avenue Elementary School in West Babylon. The multi-media bully prevention program was presented by CAPS trained volunteer, Bonnie Marks, and was designed to promote empathy and help build social and assertiveness skills in 4th and 5th graders.
“Senator Johnson has been a long-standing supporter of CAPS’ mission to prevent child abuse and neglect on Long Island. We are truly grateful for his legislative appropriations which enable us to present our programs to children in his district,” said Alane Fagin, Executive Director.
Steer Clear of Bullies is one of the many student-targeted, developmentally-appropriate workshops that are offered free to all Long Island schools, grades 2-12. Suffolk County Executive Proclaims June - Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month

Steve Levy, County Executive of Suffolk County issued a proclamation to the Metro NY Chapter / Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, proclaiming June, in the year 2005, and every year thereafter, as Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month in Suffolk County. The proclamation was issued in an effort to make the citizens of Suffolk County aware of, and ultimately find a cure for, Myasthenia Gravis (MG).
MG is most often and acquired disorder that results in fatigable muscle weakness, made worse by activity and improved with rest. It results from an autoimmune attack against the nerve-muscle junction.
